In September 2007, ViaCell entered into an agreement with EMD Serono, Inc., an affiliate of Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany. Under the agreement, EMD Serono will provide support related to the clinical development of ViaCyte, ViaCell's investigational product for the freezing and thawing of human oocytes for use during assisted reproductive technology. In addition, EMD Serono will provide certain quantities of Gonal-f RFF Pen and Ovidrel Prefilled Syringe, to participants in the ViaCyte study.
